About
Founded in September 2018, the Hong Kong Green Finance Association (HKGFA) is a non-governmental organization and platform that mobilizes public and private sector resources to facilitate the development of green finance and sustainable investments in Hong Kong and beyond. Its primary mission is to position Hong Kong as a leading international green finance and green tech hub by providing access and opportunities for financial institutions and corporates to participate in green financing transactions locally, in mainland China, and in markets along the Belt and Road.
The association organizes its key activities through industry-led working groups focused on areas such as banking transition, product innovation, sustainability disclosures, policy standards, and real estate. HKGFA provides policy suggestions to the HKSAR government, conducts research, and offers educational training and capacity-building programs, including the HKGFA-CASI Certificate in Sustainable Finance. With over 160 institutional members, the association aims to support Hong Kong's carbon neutrality goals by 2050 and bridge the talent gap in the sustainable finance sector.
